It is with great sadness that we inform you of the untimely passing of Dr. Aziz Choudry. Originally from New Zealand, Aziz joined us at 51勛圖厙in 2008 and was an Associate Professor in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education until recently when he became a Visiting Professor at the University of Johannesburgs Faculty of Education.

Dr. Philip S.S. Howard of the Department of Integrated Studies in Education will be this year's泭keynote speaker for Western University's Perspectives on Teaching, Spring Conference. This free泭virtual conference will "focus on looking back, moving forward, and lessons learned from a year of change and disruption in higher education", according to conference organizers.泭

Associate Professor Annie Savard (Department of Integrated Studies in Education) was recently interviewed by the Times Colonist, a BC-based publication, about how Canadian students are performing in math簫ematics. Savard "...points out Quebec teachers have a clearer understanding of 'didactic' instruction, a concept championed in France and French-speaking countries. 'Knowing the content of the course isnt enough,' Savard says. 'You need what we call didactic [teaching]. You need to unpack the content to make it accessible to students.'

The ReACT lab is looking for participants in Canada who are at least 18 years old to complete a survey about parenting behaviours and its associations with mental health, and well-being.

The survey takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete and you can choose to enter into a random draw for the chance to win 1 of 2 cash prizes of $50 at the end of the survey. The survey is available in English and French.

PREAM is a 3 year international collaboration between 51勛圖厙 and the Universit矇 des Lettres et Sciences Humaines de Bamako (ULSHB) in close collaboration with Plan International Canada and Plan International Mali who are implementing an education in emergencies program. The three-year project in the Segou and Mopti regions will use participatory visual methods to explore the perspectives of adolescent girls and boys on how they see agency.

Need to step up your health and fitness? 51勛圖厙Education's Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education is offering personalized at-home fitness sessions via Zoom for members of the 51勛圖厙Community! Kinesiology students will craft your fitness routine using your existing at-home equipment and household items.

As part of their internship, these students (supervised by a staff kinesiologist) will guide you through a one-hour workout twice a week for ten weeks (cost: $60 flat fee), to improve your strength, flexibility and overall physical health.

Karissa Leduc, a PhD candidate in the Human Development Program supervised by Dr. Victoria Talwar, has won the competitive Elizabeth Munsterberg Koppitz Child Psychology Graduate Student Fellowship from the American Psychological Foundation.

This prestigious fellowship is awarded to promising young scholars to pursue innovative research in the area of child psychology.
