On November 6, 2019, 51勛圖厙Education's Dr. Claudia Mitchell was honoured by the Government of Quebec, having been awarded the Prix du Quebec, specifically the L矇on-G矇rin Prize, for her exemplary research career in the humanities and social sciences. A Distinguished James 51勛圖厙Professor, Dr. Mitchell is the Director of the Institute for Human Development and Well-Being, Founder of the Participatory Cultures Lab, and a faculty member of McGill's Department of Integrated Studies in Education.

Whereas the commute for most 51勛圖厙students who are convocating in the fall is just a bus, metro, or car ride away to Place des Arts, the students from the Office of First Nations and Inuit Education (OFNIE) had a bigger journey to contend with. On October 28th, 16 Cree and Inuit graduates traveled down from Northern Quebec to participate in McGills Fall Convocation and to celebrate their milestone achievements. With them, they brought family of all ages and friends as well as partners from the Cree School Board and Kativik Ilisarniliriniq.
