Areas of expertise:
  • Brain Tumors
  • Glioma
  • Tumor Micro-Environment
  • Spatial -Omics
  • Single-Cell Technologies
Biography:

Dr. Charles P. Couturier is a neurosurgeon and scientist specializing in brain tumors. His research dissects brain tumor dynamics into tissue, cellular, and molecular processes to uncover the determinants of pathological behaviors. By integrating advanced single-cell and spatial -omics technologies, imaging modalities like MRI, and clinical data, Dr. Couturier studies how tumor microenvironments drive cancer heterogeneity, immune interactions, and therapeutic resistance. His work has revealed conserved cellular heterogeneity in cancer and immune cells, shedding light on the mechanisms underlying tumor progression and therapeutic resistance. Dr. Couturier’s interdisciplinary approach bridges experimental and computational biology to address complex questions and discover novel therapeutic targets.

Dr. Couturier completed his undergraduate studies at the University of New Brunswick, earned his medical degree from the Université de Montréal, and pursued his residency in neurosurgery and PhD in neuroscience and cancer biology at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø. He furthered his training through a postdoctoral fellowship in systems biology at MIT and the Broad Institute, and a neurosurgery fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
