Graduate Knowledge in Action
The Graduate Knowledge in Action,聽powered by聽, is a 4-week virtual work experience designed to prepare you for the聽workplace through聽real business聽challenges聽from聽either the聽Humanities聽and Social Sciences, or the聽STEM sector.听聽
During the聽project, you will work as a virtual Student Consultant team. You will receive a聽project brief from your client and will need to聽present your research and insights at the end聽of the program.听You鈥檒l聽receive client and聽professional mentor feedback along the聽way,聽and聽will be supported with content via聽Practera鈥檚聽work based聽learning platform. Completion of the project will be included聽on聽your聽Co-Curricular Record.听
You will develop skills, including innovation, service oriented, problem solving, leadership,聽collaboration聽and cultural consciousness.
Student Consultant Responsibilities
As a student consultant, you will need to:聽

Work with your team,聽mentor聽and聽client online, and聽attend meetings聽

Commit聽40 hours聽in total for the 4-week experience聽

Attend Student Orientation聽

Attend Project Briefing with your聽Client and Mentor聽

Complete all project deliverables聽
Timeline:
Projects for Doctoral students will take place from February 23 to March 29, 2026.
Projects for Master's students will take place in Spring 2026.
Eligibility
Doctoral student eligibility聽

Must be in PhD year 1-3 in the聽humanities and social聽sciences聽

Must be registered full-time in the Winter semester

Must be in good academic standing
Master鈥檚 students eligibility

Must be a Master鈥檚 student聽in Computer Science or Engineering (including Bioresource Engineering and BBME).听

Must聽submit a letter of聽support from your supervisor to participate in the project.听

Must be registered full-time in the聽Winter聽semester.

Must be in good academic standing.
