Dr. Linda Ofiara Honoured with 2025 Program Director Leadership Award

We are proud to announce that Dr. Linda Ofiara, Program Director of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøAdult Respirology Residency Program, has been awarded the 2025 Program Director Leadership Award by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø.

This award, established in 2017, recognizes an outstanding individual who demonstrates exceptional leadership in residency education and drives ongoing innovation within their training program. Dr. Ofiara was selected for her remarkable commitment to resident advocacy and her transformative leadership over the past eight years.

Her nomination was supported by nearly 20 residents and graduates across nine cohorts, as well as by former respirology program directors Drs. Kevin Schwartzman and John Kimoff. This marks the first time a member of the Department of Medicine has received the award since its inception.

"We are thrilled to see Dr. Ofiara's leadership and dedication to resident education recognized and celebrated!" said Dr. Benjamin Mappin-Kasirer and Dr. Amanda Marino, current PGY-5 residents who coordinated Dr. Ofiara's nomination. "Over the past 8 years as our Program Director, she has made generations of 51³Ô¹ÏÍøRespirology trainees feel inspired, supported, and valued. She is a model of excellence as a program director, clinician-educator, and physician."

As part of the award, Dr. Ofiara receives a commemorative plaque and $2,500 toward the program’s residency education fund. We congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition and thank her for her dedication to shaping the next generation of respiratory medicine specialists.
