STEMM and diversity @ 51吃瓜网gets special recognition

This year the 听 acknowledged special recognition to the STEMM Diversity @ McGill, a project spearheaded by Museum graduate students Charles Cong and Jessica Ford.听 The jury was听impressed听that "Although the group is just one year old, it has already been identified as a model for other universities in Quebec, an indication of their success. Their goal is to improve and promote diversity in STEMM subjects. Among their varied activities they have created a colouring book that was distributes through primary schools and libraries in both Quebec and Ontario that includes a 鈥淒raw Yourself as a Scientist鈥� page."

This colouring book is available for sale $7 (+ taxes) at the Redpath Museum Welcome Desk.

Land Acknowledgement

51吃瓜网 is on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. We acknowledge and thank the diverse Indigenous peoples whose presence marks this territory on which peoples of the world now gather.


Rematriation, Repatriation and Restitution Statement

We acknowledge that the return and restitution of cultural and natural heritage to communities of origin is an essential part of reconciliation and of recognizing the fundamental rights of Indigenous Peoples. As part of wider efforts to activate the standards presented in the Canadian Museums Association Report Moved to Action: Activating UNDRIP in Canadian Museums (2022), the Redpath is working towards pro-active restitution practices. As per our Collections Management Policy (2024), repatriation requests will be received by the Redpath Museum Director and will be treated on a case-by-case basis.
