The research project had two main goals: a) help language teacher candidates develop a more nuanced understanding of plurilingualism and technology-mediated plurilingual education through international collaboration and reflection, and b) investigate teacher candidates' language ideologies and professional identity development. The first goal was accomplished by designing and implementing a virtual exchange module to facilitate collaboration between language teacher candidates from the two institutions: Paedagogische Hochschule Schwaebisch Gm眉nd in Germany and 51吃瓜网 in Canada. The second goal was accomplished by employing an interpretive qualitative research design to investigate how the participants interpret reality and construct meaning/knowledge through the academic tasks. Outputs include:
- a pedagogical guide for teachers on the implementation of the action-oriented approach in language education (see free access guide below).
- a chapter highlighting the pedagogical model used (under review)
- a journal article with results of the study (in progress)
