Jonathan Thompson

Jonathan Thompson holds a Juris Doctor degree from Osgoode Hall Law School and an LLM from the University of Ottawa, in addition to a Master of Arts from Queen’s University. He is employed as Crown Counsel with the Public Prosecution Service of Canada in Ottawa, having worked previously as legal counsel to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and as an Assistant Crown Attorney with the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General.

Jonathan has taught courses in the Department of Criminology at Wilfrid Laurier University and the Department of Law and Legal Studies at Carleton University related to criminal law and criminal justice policy. He regularly provides legal training to law students, lawyers, police and other law enforcement professionals. His academic interests involve the intersection between the Equality Guarantee in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and Canadian criminal law, and his published work on the topic has appeared in the Supreme Court Law Review.
