The College of Graduate Mentorship supports upper-year PhD students and postdocs in their transition into the job market.

The program consists of two components through which you will have the opportunity to:

  1. Learn from the job-search experience of a cross-disciplinaryÌýfaculty mentor with whom you will meet 2 times per semester.Ìý
  2. Expand your knowledge of the career paths available to 51³Ô¹ÏÍøPhDs through the TRaCE Talks, monthly panel discussions with 51³Ô¹ÏÍøalumni working in diverse careers. The TRaCE Talks are open to all members of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøcommunity.Ìý

Through the Faculty Mentor Pairing program, eligible students will be paired with a faculty mentor as they explore the different career paths available to them, learn to recognize and present the many valuable skills they have acquired over the course of their studies, and develop strategies to stay organized, motivated, and happy as they finish their degrees and seek future opportunities.

A pairing with a cross-disciplinaryÌý51³Ô¹ÏÍøfaculty mentor will give you the opportunity to expand your understanding of the academic job market, learn from your mentor’s unique perspective and experience, and establish new connections at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøand beyond.

TRaCE Talks

Most 51³Ô¹ÏÍøPhDs work in diverse careers beyond academia. Building on the insights of the project, the TRaCE Talks invite 51³Ô¹ÏÍøalumni to share their experiences in non-academic careers in monthly panel discussions open to all members of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøcommunity.
