Black History Month 2025

As with past years, the Equity Team hosts two Black History Month events: the Opening Ceremony open to all students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members, and the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøBlack Community Gathering open to Black students, staff, and faculty at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøto gather and celebrate in-person.

The keynote address for this year's Opening Ceremony will be delivered by architect Shane Laptiste. He has a particular interest in the ways in which Black communities have and continue to respond to space and the environment. He is a licensed architect in Ontario and Quebec and holds BSc(Arch) and MArch degrees from 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, where he also serves as a studio instructor.
