Applying to 51³Ô¹ÏÍøEngineering as an Exchange Student

All questions regarding participating in an exchange at 51³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s Faculty of Engineering should be directed to the International Studies/Study Abroad Office of your home university. 51³Ô¹ÏÍø will only review exchange applications that are formally submitted to us by the exchange coordinators of exchange partner universities.

Orientation

The 51³Ô¹ÏÍøEngineering Student Centre hosts an information session for all incoming exchange students upon arrival. Exchange students are also encouraged to attend all New Student Orientation activities.

Pre-Departure Information

Course Registration Instructions for Incoming Exchange Students

Due to programming restrictions, exchange students are not permitted to register directly for courses via Minerva. Instead, you must request course overrides by completing and submitting . After the request has been approved, you can register in your course(s) in Minerva. Please ensure that all requested courses have been pre-approved by your home advisor.

Key Information:

  • The departmental advisor will inform you of the courses you are eligible to register for from their department (e.g., CHEE courses approved by the Department of Chemical Engineering). This approval does not guarantee there will be space in the course.
  • FACC 100, 300, and 400Ìýare not open to incoming exchange students.
  • The Faculty of Engineering can only assist with engineering course overrides.
  • If you wish to take non-engineering courses, you must contact the appropriate faculty directly to request an override.
  • Courses may be dropped in Minerva (without a form). Please review our add/drop and withdrawal dates.
  • It is your responsibility to:
    • Ensure you are registered in the correct courses.
    • Verify there are no scheduling conflicts. Conflicts may result in overlapping exam times.

Scholarships for incoming exchange students

Antje Graupe Pryor International AwardsÌýin Engineering

Established in 1999 by a generous gift from the late Werner Graupe and the Antje Graupe Pryor Foundation. Awarded by the Faculty of Engineering Scholarships Committee to second or third year Engineering students from a university in the European Union opting to study at McGill’s Faculty of Engineering for one or two terms with preference given to students applying from a German or French university.

Eligibility: Second- or third-year undergraduate Engineering students from German or French universities wishing to study at the Faculty of Engineering at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø for one or two semesters.Ìý

Preference is given to students from German universities, particularly Technische Universität Berlin.

Value: $7,500 CDN for one semester; renewable for a second semester.

Application: There is no separate application required. You will be automatically considered for it.
