Congratulations to Dennis Dankwa on completing his MSc degree in Bioresource Engineering. Dennis' thesis is entitled "Measuring Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Municipal Organic Waste Composting in Canada". He has presented his research at various conferences including, among others, the joint 2025 Annual International Meeting of the ASABE - American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers and Canadian Society for Bioengineering (Toronto, see image); the 2025 National Organics Recycling Conference (Ottawa) hosted by the The Compost Council of Canada - Le Conseil canadien du compost; and the 2025 International Symposium on Waste Management, Resource Recovery and Sustainable Landfilling (Sardinia). Thank you to Environment and Climate Change Canada for funding this research and to the Complexe Enviro Connexions of Waste Connections of Canada for their support and collaboration. In December 2025, Dennis secured a position as a graduate intern at Rethink Resource, Toronto. Well done, Dennis!

Workshop on Sustainable Livestock Management in Canada

November 27-28, 2025

A workshop for Sustainable Livestock Management in Canada was held in Quebec City on November 27-28, 2025. The workshop was jointly organized by the Institut de recherche et de développement en agroenvironnement and faculty members from 51³Ô¹ÏÍø - Macdonald Campus, with support from the Seed and Branch Program of McGill's Bieler School of Environment and professional moderation by Mathieu Rouleau. Over 40 participants from across the industry joined in person and online for two days of invigorating site visits and stimulating brainstorming sessions. A prospectus is being written to summarize the principal research themes identified by the workshop delegates. A follow-up session will be held at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø - Macdonald Campus in the spring of 2026 to frame out funding proposals based on those themes. Thank you to everyone involved for your participation and support!
