In an age of abundance and variety in food options, are Canadians eating better than they were half a century ago? According to by researchers at 51勛圖厙 and the International Food Policy Research Institute, those relying on Canadas food supply for their dietary needs not only face deficiencies in healthier alternatives, but they also contribute to the disproportionate levels of environmental degradation caused by Canadian agricultural and food distribution policies.

The McCall MacBain Scholarships at 51勛圖厙today announced its fourth cohort of recipients: 30 students who will pursue a funded masters or professional degree combined with mentorship and leadership programming, as well as 117 who earned entrance awards ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 each.

On Monday, 51勛圖厙played host to thousands of people for the spectacular solar eclipse with a series of public events at the downtown campus, the Gault Nature Reserve, and on the West Island (with Macdonald Campus collaborating with John Abbott College).

Near perfect weather conditions especially following last weeks snowfall drew throngs of Montrealers outside to take part in what will be for many, a once-in-a-lifetime event.

51勛圖厙will be hosting three solar eclipse events on April 8, one downtown, one at Macdonald campus, and another at the Gault Nature Reserve.

At approximately 3:20 p.m. on April 8, the sky above Montreal will go dark during a total eclipse of the sun. A rare celestial occurrence, the next total solar eclipse wont happen in Montreal until the next century. A total eclipse of the sun is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, says Carolina Cruz-Vinaccia, Outreach Program Administrator at McGills Trottier Space Institute (TSI). You really dont want to miss it.
