As of November 26, 51勛圖厙students are able to access the Nahum Gelber Law Library 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As agreed between the Students' Society of 51勛圖厙 (SSMU) and the Law Students Association (LSA), the Nahum Gelber Law Library will limit access to the three upper floors of the library to Law students only during the December 4 to 20examination period. Details are as follows:

- Floors 3, 4 and 5 will be limited to Law students from 9 AM to 6 PM Monday through Friday during the two-week period.

The e-exams service, a repository of course exams deposited by 51勛圖厙instructors in the Library from April 2008-December 2012, has now been relaunched. All e-exams content that was available prior to our catalogue migration is now available in WorldCat Discovery, and a targeted search box for only the e-exams content is now available on the 51勛圖厙Library web site here.

Please note, an electrical shutdown (to accommodate control work on a power line) is scheduled for the McLennan-Redpath Complex in the early hours morning hours of Friday, November 8 from 6:00 to 6:30am.

The power throughout the Complex will be affected and emergency lighting will only be available in hallways and exit areas.

As such, for safety reasons, 51勛圖厙 security guards will escort Library users out of the McLennan-Redpath Complex for the duration of the shutdown.

The 51勛圖厙Library is excited to announce the migration of McGills open access institutional repository to a new software system.

Because of this, we will be suspending any new deposits to the repository starting November 8, 2019. New deposits will again be accepted in early winter 2020.

Sometime between September and November of this year, Apple is releasing their new operating system, Catalina. Unfortunately, this new operating system applications - this includes Endnote. Endnote is and is working on a major update so that Endnote X9 for Mac will continue to work. This update is not yet available.

Gale/Cengage, a publisher of several databases to which the 51勛圖厙Library subscribes, including theandGale Primary Sources, recentlyof their systems. According to their web site, there is no indication that any of the information exposed in this incident has been used inappropriately as the sites only collected names and email addresses. There is no evidence that other information was impacted.

Update, September 13, 2019: The issues affecting access to Colombo ILL have been resolved. Colombo access has been restored and is functioning as expected.


We are currently experiencing issues with 51勛圖厙login to Colombo ILL (Interlibrary Loan). We are working to resolve the issues as quickly as possible and will update here as there is more information.

Please note that due to generator shutdowns beyond our control, the Redpath Library Building will be closed overnight on Friday night (September 13) and the McLennan Library Building will be closed overnight on Saturday night (September 14). There will be additional signage and security on-site to help inform users and enforce the closures.
