About the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøOffice of Sustainability

Established in 2010, the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøOffice of Sustainability embeds climate action and sustainability into all of the University’s activities. It engages, supports, and connects students, staff, and faculty by providing strategic guidance and resources to foster a sustainable community.Ìý

The Office of Sustainability stewards the Sustainability Projects Fund, oversees the implementation of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Climate & Sustainability Strategy, and facilitates a variety of sustainability engagement programs for students, staff, and faculty members, including:

Divya supports 51³Ô¹ÏÍøon its path to carbon neutrality by 2040 through various climate action projects on campus, including producing the University’s annual greenhouse gas inventory with Utilities & Energy Management. She also coordinates the implementation of McGill's biodiversity plan and climate adaptation actions to help 51³Ô¹ÏÍøbecome a nature-positive university and increase its climate resilience.

Veronica (she/her) is a student studying Software Engineering and Psychology. As part of the Office of Sustainability's communications team, she provides engaging visuals to promote sustainable practices and initiatives on campus. She also updates the MOOS website with the latest news and exciting events, helping students and faculty stay informed about the most current sustainability developments.

Jessica is a PhD student in Chemical Engineering. She supports the Sustainable Events Certification and Sustainable Workplace Certification Program. With a passion for sustainability and a strong technical background, Jessica is excited to empower others with the knowledge and tools to plan inclusive and low-footprint events on campus.

Office of Sustainability Internship Program

The Office of Sustainability was established following student advocacy for institutional support for sustainability initiatives on McGill’s campuses. Since its creation, students have continued to play an integral role, notably through the Office of Sustainability Internship Program.ÌýÌý

Each year, the Office of Sustainability hires a selection of student interns to support the University in its mission to become an institutional model of sustainability for society.
