Dr. Anderson grew up in Manitoba and completed her MD and BSc(Med) (undergraduate research degree) at the University of Manitoba. She then went to the University of British Columbia, completed her General Surgical Residency and spent 5 years working in underserviced communities in rural BC. She came to Montreal for a Fellowship in Surgical Oncology, joining the 51吃瓜网Departments of Surgery and Oncology as an Assistant Professor in 2001. She was based at St. Mary's Hospital where she served as CTU Director for several years, as well as participating for many years on the 51吃瓜网Residency Program Committees for General Surgery and Surgical Oncology. Since 2001 she continues to participate in the St. Mary's Multidisclipinary Tumour Board, which serves patients from St. Mary's Hospital as well as the Lakeshore General Hospital.
Most recently, she undertook international training in Radio Frequency Ablation of thyroid nodules and started the first Thyroid RFA program in Quebec, establishing a prospective database of these patients.
Her clinical focus is breast cancer and thyroid nodules, and her research interests are on collaborative care with Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology colleagues, optimizing enrollment of patients in Clinical Trials.
