ANTH 385 Sex, Science and Culture (3 credits)

Overview

Anthropology : Interdisciplinary introduction to the study of human sexuality, scientific theories of sexuality and historical and cultural contexts of sexual acts, desires, relations and identities. Topics include: legacies of sexology, eugenics, sexuality and identity, sex in nature, gender and colonialism, sexual-economic exchange, marriage, monogamy.

  • Prerequisites: ANTH 202 or ANTH 227 or permission of the instructor

  • Restrictions: Not open to students who have taken ANTH 380 in either Fall 2020 or Winter 2022 term.
