The Cree Board of Health and Social Services of Jame s Bay (CBHSSJB) is currently responding to this challenge through the deve lopment of structures and processes for engaging with remote Cree communit ies for health and wellness planning. This planning initiative is referred to both regionally and locally as the Iiyuu Ahtaawin Miyupimaatisiiun (Cr ee community wellness) Planning (IAMP) initiative.\n\n In 2015\, theCBHSSJB and 51Թ began partnering to conduct a developmental and par ticipatory evaluation of the IAMP initiative at the institutional\, region al\, and community levels.Based on an earlier component of the evaluation— a key informant studyamongCBHSSJB staff—and current work at the community level\, this presentation will explore and discuss perspectives on context ual challenges\, aims\, and ways forward for supporting Cree community par ticipation in health and wellness planning. These perspectives include sha red concerns regarding collaboration\, communication\, cultural adaptation and safety in health care\, as well as contrasting views between non-Cree and Cree participants with respect to certain issues and priorities for a chieving community participation. Among other\, Cree participants identify how ongoing effects of colonization challenge both individual and collect ive capacity for community participation and require process-oriented and relational approaches for supporting local empowerment. A transactional pe rspective supports the recognition of history as contributive to the conte xt of Indigenous community participation and co-constitutive of individual and collective meanings and action.\n \n\n DTSTART:20180910T160000Z DTEND:20180910T170000Z LOCATION:D20\, Davis House\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3G 1Y5\, 3654 promenade Sir William Osler SUMMARY:School of Physical and Occupational Therapy Research Seminar URL:/spot/channels/event/school-physical-and-occupatio nal-therapy-research-seminar-288921 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
