 itten about state violence and health care for several publications. Fight
 ing for A Hand to Hold: Confronting Medical Colonialism against Indigenous
  Children in Canada was awarded both the Concordia University First Book P
 rize and the Mavis Gallant Prize for Non-fiction by the Quebec Writers’ Fe
 deration (QWF) in November 2021\; the French translation (by Nicolas Calvé
 )\, Plus aucun enfant autochtone arraché: Pour en finir avec le colonialis
 me médical canadien\, was awarded the Cole Foundation Prize for Translatio
 n by the QWF in November 2022.\n\nSamir is an associate professor in the D
 epartment of Pediatrics and an associate member of the School of Populatio
 n and Global Health\, both in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences 
 at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø. He works as a pediatric emergency physician in Tio’t
