  keynote speaker: \n\nAlika Lafontaine\, BSc\, MD\, FRCPC\n\nDr. Alika Laf
 ontaine (MD\, FRCPC) is an award-winning physician\, social innovator\, an
 d the first Indigenous doctor listed in Medical Post’s 50 Most Powerful Do
 ctors. He was born and raised in Southern Saskatchewan with a mixed Indige
 nous ancestry of Metis\, Anishinaabe\, Cree and Pacific Islander.\n\nAlika
  has served in provincial and national medical leadership positions for al
 most two decades. In August 2022 he became the first Indigenous physician 
 to serve as President of the Canadian Medical Association\, the national v
 oice of Canada’s physicians. Dr. Lafontaine is a respected authority on he
 alth systems\, change management\, social innovation\, anti-racism\, and r
 eflective practice.\n\nFrom 2013 to 2017 Dr. Lafontaine co-led the Indigen
 ous Health Alliance project\, one of the most ambitious health transformat
 ion initiatives in Canadian history. Led politically by Indigenous leaders
 hip representing more than 150 First Nations across three provinces\, the 
 alliance successfully advocated for $68 million of federal funding for Ind
 igenous health transformation in Saskatchewan\, Manitoba and Ontario. He w
 as recognized for his work in the alliance by the Public Policy Forum\, wh
 ere Prime Minister Justin Trudeau presented the award.\n\nIn 2020\, Dr. La
 fontaine co-founded Safespace Networks with his brother Kamea\, an Indigen
 ous dentist and software developer. Safespace Networks is a Web 3.0 learni
 ng platform for safe and anonymous reporting of healthcare harm and waste.
  Patients and providers use the platform to share their lived and observed
  experiences\, providing insights into healthcare systems without the risk
  of retaliation. These insights can be used by patients to better navigate
  health systems\, or by decision-makers\, advocates\, and funders to make 
 better-informed decisions.\n\nDr. Lafontaine continues to practice anesthe

  le premier médecin autochtone nommé par le Medical Post parmi les 50 méde
 cins les plus influents au Canada. D’ascendance anishinabée\, crie\, métis
 se et insulaire du Pacifique\, il est né et a grandi dans le sud de la Sas
 katchewan.\n\nAu cours des 20 dernières années\, le Dr Lafontaine a occupé
  divers postes de direction dans le secteur de la santé à l’échelle provin
 ciale et nationale. En août 2022\, il est devenu le premier médecin autoch
 tone à occuper le poste de président de l’Association médicale canadienne\
 , la voix nationale des médecins du Canada. Le Dr Lafontaine est une autor
 ité respectée en matière de systèmes de santé\, de gestion du changement\,
  d’innovation sociale\, de lutte contre le racisme et de pratique réflexiv
 e.\n\nDe 2013 à 2017\, le Dr Lafontaine a codirigé l’Alliance en santé des
  Autochtones\, l’une des initiatives de transformation des soins les plus 
 ambitieuses de l’histoire du Canada. Menée sur le plan politique par des d
 irigeants autochtones représentant plus de 150 Premières Nations réparties
  dans trois provinces\, l’Alliance a réclamé avec succès un financement fé
 déral de 68 millions de dollars pour la transformation des soins aux perso
 nnes autochtones en Saskatchewan\, au Manitoba et en Ontario. Son travail 
 avec l’Alliance lui a valu un prix du Forum des politiques publiques\, qui
  lui a été remis par le premier ministre Justin Trudeau.\n\nEn 2020\, le D
 r Lafontaine a cofondé le projet Safespace Networks avec son frère Kamea\,
  dentiste et développeur de logiciels. Safespace Networks est une platefor
 me d’apprentissage du Web 3.0 permettant de signaler de manière sûre et an
 onyme les préjudices subis et le gaspillage observé dans les soins de sant
 é. Les patients et les prestataires de soins utilisent cette plateforme po
 ur témoigner de leurs expériences vécues et observées\, jetant un éclairag
 e important sur les systèmes de santé sans risque de représailles. Ces don
 nées peuvent être utilisées par les patients pour leur permettre de mieux 
 évoluer dans les systèmes de santé\, ou par les décisionnaires\, représent
 ants et bailleurs de fonds pour prendre des décisions éclairées.\n\nLe Dr 
 Lafontaine exerce toujours comme anesthésiste dans le nord de l’Alberta.\n
