The lecture begins at 7pm o n May 16 in the Frank Dawson Adams Auditorium! The talk will also be live streamed\, and we will try to take some questions from the online audience - the stream will appear on the Astro51³Ô¹ÏÍøFacebook page when it starts. \n\nAbstract: The polar ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica are massive \, continental scale sheets of ice kilometers thick. Together they hold en ough ice to raise sea levels by over 60 meters\, and they will begin to me lt as the climate warms presenting a threat to coastal communities around the world. Sea levels will change by different amounts in different places \, rising more than on average in some regions and even falling in others. In this talk\, Professor Gomez will discuss the response of the polar ice sheets to climate warming and explain the physics that determine where th e meltwater will go.\n\nShare this event with your friends and family: htt ps://www.facebook.com/events/413565742543496/\n DTSTART:20190516T230000Z DTEND:20190517T003000Z LOCATION:FDA Auditorium\, Adams Building\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 0E8\, 3 450 rue University SUMMARY:Public AstroNight: Melting Ice in a Warming Climate URL:/science/channels/event/public-astronight-melting- ice-warming-climate-297099 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
