We welcome all interested participants\, whether or not you have been able to attend previous sessions.\n\nThe DSRW is a bi-monthly event series taking place t hroughout the Winter 2023 semester\, organized by religious studies gradua te students at both Concordia and 51Թuniversities. Each month we will hold two events: a reading seminar and a skills-based workshop\, each led by invited faculty speakers\, graduate students\, or community facilitator s specializing in research methods\, classroom relationships\, pedagogy\, and public scholarship. The DSRW aims to familiarize participants with eme rgent decolonial discourses\; to equip them with praxis-informed decolonia l skills that can be used both within and beyond the classroom\; and to fa cilitate the application of decolonization and Indigenization strategies w ithin religious studies at the departmental level.\n\nIn this workshop we will be playing with sound. Our activities will be underpinned by the idea s and frameworks in the following three readings:\n\n\n Burke Stanton\, ‘Mu sicking the borders toward decolonizing methodologies\,’ Philosophy of Mus ic Education Review\, 26 (1)\, Spring 2018\, 4-23.\n Brandi Thompson Summer s\, “Reclaiming the chocolate city: soundscapes of gentrification and resi stance in Washington\, DC\,” Society and Space\, 39 (1)\, 2021\, 30-46.\n A nne Karpf\, “The human voice and the texture of experience\,” Oral History \, 42(2)\, Autumn 2014\, 50-55.\n\n\nAlthough this event is concerned with the study of religion\, we invite anybody interested or curious\, from an y intellectual background\, to join this discussion. No prior knowledge of or exposure to decolonial methods are necessary: it will be a space for a ll to learn and collaboratively envision how to think and do otherwise. Re gistration is required and limited: please secure your place at https://fo rms.gle/7RNEnWFJfrgXigTV9.\n DTSTART:20230222T210000Z DTEND:20230222T230000Z LOCATION:Birks Building\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 2A7\, 3520 rue Universit y SUMMARY:Decolonization and the Study of Religion Workshop (DSRW) Series URL:/religiousstudies/channels/event/decolonization-an d-study-religion-workshop-dsrw-series-346119 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
