I will present approaches we are developing that include (1) Better targeting the true cause of infectious disease – the virulence factors (2) Better track ing the mobility of of such factors (and improving pathogen tracking and d isease outbreak risk assessment in the process)\, and (3) Better supportin g the “good” bacteria - promoting a good microbiome to support health. Thr oughout this\, I will provide examples of our “bioinformatics battles”/les sons learned\, as we use an interdisciplinary computational\, molecular bi ological and social sciences approach to tackle these challenges. Some of these bioinformatics battles\, including dealing with exponentially growin g diverse data\, are broadly an issue in other disciplines. I will end wit h what we need to do next to move toward more sustainable\, targeted infec tious disease control\, while promoting health.\n DTSTART:20230404T160000Z DTEND:20230404T170000Z SUMMARY:QLS Seminar Series - Fiona Brinkman URL:/qls/channels/event/qls-seminar-series-fiona-brink man-347206 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
