But is there more to be gleaned from t hese non-invasive measurements of human brain activity? Recent work has fo cused on a new type of signal embedded within the well-known EEG oscillati ons\, which appears to fluctuate arrhythmically. These signals seem to con travene the textbook explanation for EEG\, and their existence and interpr etation remain controversial. In this talk\, I will review the evidence fo r these aperiodic EEG signals and the 1/f spectral trend that they purport edly produce. I will then present biophysical models of EEG generation alo ng with pharmacological experiments that offer explanations for aperiodic EEG. I will close by discussing implications for practical EEG interpretat ion and assessing methodologies for spectral EEG analysis.\n DTSTART:20241022T160000Z DTEND:20241022T170000Z SUMMARY:QLS Seminar Series - Niklas Brake URL:/qls/channels/event/qls-seminar-series-niklas-brak e-360287 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
