Dr. Orri is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø and Principal Investigator at the Douglas Research Centre, within the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøGroup for Suicide Studies. He holds the Canada Research Chair (tier 2) in Suicide Prevention. He is also an Associate Member of the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Occupational Health at McGill, and an adjunct senior researcher at the Danish Research Institute for Suicide Prevention. He received training in both clinical psychology (MSc, PhD) and public health methodology and biostatistics (MSc) with a focus on epidemiological research. As a clinical psychologist, he practices at the Depressive and Suicide Disorders Program of the Douglas Mental Health University Institute.
The is interested in better understanding what makes people at risk of engaging in suicidal behavior and developing related mental health problems using large population-based cohort studies that follow individuals from childhood to adulthood. Studies conducted in the lab use a life-course, developmental approach, and multidisciplinary methods that build on different traditions, including psychiatric epidemiology, developmental psychopathology, and behavioral genetics.
