51³Ô¹ÏÍøEstablishes Working Group on Antisemitism

51³Ô¹ÏÍø has launched a Working Group on Antisemitism to help ensure that antisemitism is well-understood, effectively prevented, and appropriately addressed across our campuses.Ìý

The Working Group is co-chaired by Associate Professor Alana Klein and Professor Eran Shor. It includes faculty, students and staff, and will base its work on listening to the diverse lived experiences and perspectives of members of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøcommunity with experiences linked to antisemitism. Its goal is to develop practical, evidence-informed recommendations to strengthen McGill’s policies, practices, and educational efforts in this area.Ìý

The group will:Ìý

  • Review legal, policy, and human rights frameworks relevant to antisemitismÌý

  • Describe how antisemitism is experienced in the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøcommunityÌýÌý

  • Analyze the interaction between antisemitism, anti-Zionism, and anti-Israeli discrimination in university settingsÌý

  • Explore how academic freedom, freedom of expression, and protection from discrimination intersectÌý

  • Recommend strategies for education, prevention, and responseÌý

Consultations with affected students, faculty, and staff will begin soon, and more information will be shared in the coming weeks.Ìý

This initiative reflects McGill’s ongoing commitment to equity, inclusion, and the well-being of all members of its community. The Working Group will share updates throughout the year and present its final report to the President in Spring 2026.Ìý
