Graduate Student Symposiums showcase research and knowledge translation projects

Final year master's students present their research projects to their peers, faculty and community partners

A highlight for final year masters’ students and faculty alike, this year’s Graduate Student Symposiums were held on two separate dates: April 4 for the Knowledge Translation stream and April 11 for the Research stream.

Both days featured rich discussions and presentations on a wide variety of topics such as creating and improving educational materials for families and caregivers; analyzing patients’ and family caregivers’ perspectives of a Hospital@Home program; coping with chronic intensive care-related pain; and healthcare professionals’ experiences managing prescription medications for migrants with precarious status with chronic Illness.

Mégan Guilbault, who along with Delisha Conliffe presented in the Knowledge stream on Promoting Nurses' Autonomy and Patient Safety Through -IV (Intravenous) Push Medication, said she appreciated the opportunity to present her work and to learn from her peers. “The day was focused on recapping the stage we had been working on since starting our knowledge translation projects in September 2024. In many ways, this day felt like a celebration of our efforts, with the presentation a great way to reflect on our learning this academic year…(It) was a good opportunity to network, providing us exposure to career opportunities. We were able to exchange contact information with class members and faculty partners. I often reflect on my colleague’s projects and think how this could be applicable to the setting where I am employed. This was a great moment to exchange what we had learned and improve patient care.”

Congratulations to all the student presenters and to primary organizers Professors Susan Drouin, Christine Maheu, Jodi Tuck and administrative coordinator Tania Marques Manata, with assistance from Katherine Logue, Yi-Qing Lu, William Archambault, Luisa de Marte, Augusto Cuellar Diaz, Kristi Kouchakji, Erica Henriques, Aleksandar Dordevic, Hena Kon and Adetomiwa (Tommy) Adedire.
