The Pierre Gloor lecture serves a s the pinnacle of the recently inaugurated Epilepsy Lecture Series. A cock tail reception will follow.\n\nSpeaker: Fernandes\, Cendes\, Professor\, D epartment of Neurology\, University of Campinas - UNICAMP\, Brazil\n\n\nTo attend in person - registration link\n\nLink to view the livestreaming\n \n\nTalk Abstract:\n\nThe Advances of MRI in Epilepsies: From Diagnosis an d Classification to Pathophysiology and Endophenotypes\n\nHigh-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) plays a crucial role in defining the etio logy and prognosis of medical and surgical treatment in patients with epil epsies. The results from an MRI visual analysis of signal characteristics of a suspicious lesion\, its location\, and extent\, with or without postp rocessing\, are fundamental to the surgical approach in patients with foca l epilepsies. However\, MRI findings are often subtle and may be undetecte d even with state-of-the-art MRIs\, particularly in cortical dysplasias (F CD). In addition\, advances in computer science and faster hardware enabli ng big data analyses transformed the neuroimaging research field\, leading to new avenues in clinical research. Research applications\, including di fferent functional and structural MRI acquisitions\, are leading to new in sights into the vast extent of network dysfunction underlying cognitive co morbidities and a better understanding of disease mechanisms through imagi ng genomics and subclinical quantitative data that could be used as endoph enotypes\, to name a few of the potential MRI applications.\n\n \n DTSTART:20230525T200000Z DTEND:20230525T210000Z LOCATION:3801 University\, Montreal Neurological Institute\, CA\, QC\, Mont real\, H3A 2B4\, 3801 rue University SUMMARY:Pierre Gloor Lecture: The Advances of MRI in Epilepsies: From Diagn osis and Classification to Pathophysiology and Endophenotypes URL:/neuro/channels/event/pierre-gloor-lecture-advance s-mri-epilepsies-diagnosis-and-classification-pathophysiology-and-343767 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
