Elinor Frey est une violoncelliste, gambiste et chercheuse canado-am茅ricaine. Laur茅ate du prix Opus de l鈥檌nterpr猫te de l鈥檃nn茅e en 2021, Elinor Frey a entre autres b茅n茅fici茅 de la bourse am茅ricaine US-Italy Fulbright Fellowship ainsi que de bourses du Conseil de recherche en sciences humaines (CRSH) et du Conseil des arts du Canada, et une r茅cente r茅sidence de recherche 脿 l'Institut Orpheus 脿 Gand, lui permettant de poursuivre ses travaux sur la musique ancienne pour violoncelle. Elinor Frey is a leading Canadian-American cellist, gambist, and researcher. Her albums on the Belgian label Passacaille and Canadian label Analekta 鈥� many of which are world premiere recordings 鈥� are the fruit of long collaborations with artists such as Suzie LeBlanc, Marc Vanscheeuwijck, and Lorenzo Ghielmi, as well as with composers including Maxime McKinley, Linda Catlin Smith, Christian Mason, and Lisa Streich. Elinor鈥檚 recording of cello sonatas by Giuseppe Clemente Dall鈥橝baco received a Diapason d鈥橭r and her critical editions of Dall鈥橝baco鈥檚 cello music is published in collaboration with Walhall Editions. Early Italian Cello Concertos, her album in collaboration with Rosa Barocca orchestra, won the 2023 JUNO Award for Classical Album of the Year (small ensemble).

Elinor is the artistic director of Accademia de鈥� Dissonanti, an organization for performance and research, and she has performed throughout the Americas and in Europe in recital and with numerous chamber ensembles and orchestras (Constantinople, Les id茅es heureuses, Il Gardellino, Tafelmusik, Pacific Baroque Orchestra, etc.). In March 2023, she performed Boccherini and Sammartini concertos with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra.

Recipient of dozens of grants and prizes supporting performance and research, including the US-Italy Fulbright Fellowship (studying with Paolo Beschi in Como, Italy) and a recent research residency at the Orpheus Institute in Ghent, Elinor holds degrees from McGill, Mannes, and Juilliard. She teaches Baroque cello and performance practice at 51吃瓜网 and the Universit茅 de Montr茅al and is a Visiting Fellow in Music (2020鈥�2023) at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford University. Frey was awarded Qu茅bec鈥檚 Opus Prize for 鈥淧erformer of the Year鈥� in 2021.
