DESCRIPTION:\n\nDIANE B. WAYNE\, MD is Vice Dean for Education and the Dr. 
 John Sherman Appleman Professor of Medicine at the Northwestern University
  Feinberg School of Medicine. She is also Chair of the Department of Medic
 al Education and President of the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern Uni
 versity. Dr. Wayne has received many honors and awards\, including the 201
 6 Mentor of the Year award from the medical school\, the 2015 Patterson Aw
 ard\, bestowed annually by the graduating resident class to the Best Teach
 er in the Department of Medicine\, and the 2014 Leader in General Internal
  Medicine Award from the Society of General Internal Medicine\, Midwest Re
 gion. Dr. Wayne has been invited to deliver numerous talks and lectures an
 d has served as a visiting professor at many national and international in
 stitutions and conferences. Dr. Wayne received her bachelor’s and medical 
 degrees from Northwestern University and completed her residency at Univer
 sity of Chicago Hospitals. Following a faculty appointment at Baylor Colle
 ge of Medicine in Houston\, Texas\, she has since 2001 served as faculty i
 n the Department of Medicine and since 2009 in the Department of Medical E
 ducation for the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She 
 was named Vice Dean for Education in 2014.\n\nAs a researcher\, Dr. Wayne 
 focuses on the intersection of education and patient care quality.  Her ex
 pertise is in simulation-based research.  Her team has shown that high qua
 lity education leads to improved clinical skills\, reduced iatrogenic comp
 lications\, and lower hospital costs than traditional approaches. She has 
 published extensively on these topics in notable peer-reviewed journals su
 ch as Academic Medicine\, the American Journal of Medical Quality\, the Ar
 chives of Internal Medicine\, Critical Care Medicine and CHEST.\n\n \n
