 iversity\, with the support of the Centre for Research on Brain\, Language
  and Music\, are pleased to invite you to a two-day conference on multilin
 gualism and brain plasticity\, to be held on  24-25 October 2013 (Thursday
  and Friday) at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø in Montreal  The conference examines rec
 ent advances in our understanding of multilingualism\, including simultane
 ous bilingualism\, language learning mechanisms\, sign language\, transfer
  effects\, brain plasticity and critical periods\, focusing on current dev
 elopments in this field. One goal is to facilitate and inspire the interdi
 sciplinary exchange of ideas among researchers and students from different
  backgrounds\, and to promote collaborative research projects in the futur
 e. Researchers in the areas of linguistics\, psycholinguistics\, cognitive
  science\, neuroscience\, neurolinguistics\, speech language pathology and
  related fields are invited to submit abstracts that report on relevant wo
 rk in the field of bilingualism and multilingualism.  Abstract submission 
 deadline: Sunday\, 07 July 2013  The meeting will also feature invited pre
 sentations by eight internationally renowned researchers from complementar
 y areas in linguistics\, psychology and neuroscience\, whose work has cont
 ributed new and innovative perspectives on the (psycho-)linguistic and neu
 ral bases of multilingualism and related cognitive domains. The wide range
  of topics to be addressed includes: how to handle to languages in one bra
 in\, challenges of grammatical and morphological processing in multilingua
 lism\, first language attrition - the science of learning and forgetting\,
  the roles of input and socio-economic status on bilingual language acquis
 ition\, and bilingualism in sign languages\, among others.  The conference
  is also part of a number of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of th
 e School of Communication Sciences and Disorders (SCSD) at McGill. You wil
 l have opportunities to learn about the ongoing research at the School as 
 well as the interdisciplinary Centre for Research on Brain\, Language and 
 Music that brings together top scientists from all four universities in Mo
