He is best known for his research on monetary policy\, and for his popular introductory textbook\, Economics\, now in it s fourteenth edition and co-authored by Richard Lipsey. He is chair of Can ada's Ecofiscal Commission\, a group of Canadian economists seeking to bro aden the discussion of environmental pricing reform beyond the academic sp here and into the realm of practical policy application. He is an Associat e Professor at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø\, where he has been on the faculty since 1989. Throughout his tenure\, he has taught a wide range of economics cour ses\, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In 2007\, he became t he first in the Faculty of Economics to receive the H. Noel Fieldhouse tea ching award for excellence in teaching. His research and academic writing is largely focused on Canadian public policy challenges\, and since 2007\, the policy responses to the financial crisis of 2007-2009.\n\nDanielle Go ldfarb\n\nHead of Global Research at RIWI (Real-Time Interactive Worldwide Intelligence)\n\nDanielle Goldfarb is head of global research at RIWI (ht tps://riwi.com/). Danielle’s research expertise is in the global gig econo my\, real-time labour market trends\, global trade\, and the global digita l economy. Before joining RIWI\, Danielle held senior roles at several eco nomic policy think tanks. She directed the Conference Board of Canada’s re search centre on global commerce\, and led trade and trade policy research at the C.D. Howe Institute. Maclean’s magazine has called Danielle one of Canada’s top trade experts. Danielle’s October 2019 Tedx talk is on the c ritical ingredient for predicting the future. Danielle has an M.Phil. in I nternational Relations from Cambridge University and a B.Comm. in Honours Economics from 51³Ô¹ÏÍø.\n\nSylvain Leduc \n\nExecutive Vice Pres ident and Director of Research\, Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco\n\n Sylvain Leduc is executive vice president and director of Economic Researc h at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. In this role\, Dr. Leduc h elps oversee the development of key research and analyses to inform the mo netary policy decision-making process. Prior to appointment\, Dr. Leduc wa s senior vice president and associate director of Economic Research. Dr. L educ joined the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco in 2008 as a Researc h Advisor and was promoted to Vice President of Microeconomic and Macroeco nomic Research in 2013. He also worked as a Senior Economist in the Divisi on of International Finance at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reser ve System in Washington\, D.C.\, and as a Senior Economist\, Macroeconomic Research\, at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.\n\nFrom May 2016 until July 2018\, Dr. Leduc served as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canad a. As a member of the Bank’s Governing Council\, he shared responsibility for decisions on monetary policy and financial system stability and for se tting the Bank’s strategic direction. Born in Montréal\, Canada\, Dr. Ledu c received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from 51³Ô¹ÏÍøUn iversity and obtained a PhD in economics from the University of Rochester.
