Ottawa Trip

Most of our MPPs are looking for a career change - a promotion, a pivot, or feeling more prepared for their next step. Part of our commitment to professional development includes an annual trip to Parliament Hill in Ottawa, complimenting our solid theoretical foundation on how policy-making operates. The Ottawa field trip is carefully structured to offer a firsthand encounter with the practical aspects of policy implementation. During this excursion, MPPs have the unique opportunity to interact with key stakeholders such as Ministers, political offices, Parliamentarians, NGOs, lobbyists, and public servants. The goal is to provide aspiring policy professionals with valuable insights into the workings of policy-making in real-world contexts. Hearing from seasoned policy analysts enables a deeper understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities and career prospects within the federal government's policy landscape, which is particularly relevant to your Master of Public Policy studies.
