 for this event.\n\nDescription: After an unfortunate experience at the Uni
 versity of Pisa\, Galileo became at the age of 28 a professor in Padua\, w
 here he spent 18 years that he would later describe as the best years of h
 is life. During this period\, he benefited from the scientific freedom and
  international connections of the Republic of Venice\, revolutionizing mec
 hanics and astronomy. According to Einstein\, Galileo essentially invented
  the scientific method. These were also years of competition and cooperati
 on among European scientists\, particularly Germans\, French\, English\, a
 nd Dutch\, marked by debates on the methodology and by the preparation of 
 future topics of discussion. Particularly significant was Galileo’s intera
 ction with the other great astronomer of his time\, Johannes Kepler\, rega
 rding the supernova explosion of 1604\, visible to the naked eye.\n\nPrese

 s a high-energy physicist and astrophysicist. A professor at the Universit
 ies of Padua and Lisbon\, he serves as the scientific counselor for the It
 alian Delegation to International Organizations in Paris. His main researc
 h interests lie in fundamental physics\, particularly astrophysics and ele
 mentary particle physics at accelerators. A graduate of the University of 
 Padua and a CERN staff member in the 1990s\, he later was one of the found
 ing members of NASA's Fermi Gamma-ray Telescope\, the MAGIC telescopes at 
 La Palma\, and the SWGO observatory in Chile. He is the author of numerous
  scientific publications in journals such as Science and Nature\, as well 
 as general interest articles and essays on the history and philosophy of s
 cience\, and of several books. In particular he authored four books on Gal
 ileo: Galileo and satellite navigation (Springer and Castelvecchi)\, Galil
 eo and the 1604 supernova (Springer and Castelvecchi)\, The best eighteen 
 years of my life (Castelvecchi and Gradiva)\, Two new sciences for modern

 a liberté scientifique et des relations internationales de la République d
 e Venise et il révolutionne la mécanique et l'astronomie - selon Einstein\
 , il invente la méthode scientifique tout court. Ce sont aussi des années 
 de compétition et coopération entre les scientifiques européens\, notammen
 t allemands\, français\, anglais et néerlandais\, de dialectique sur la mé
 thode\, et de préparation de futurs sujets de discussion. Particulièrement
  relevante est l’interaction avec l’autre grande astronome de son temps\, 
 Johannes Kepler\, à propos de l’explosion de supernova de 1604\, visible a
  œil nu.\n\nAu sujet du conférencier\n\nAlessandro De Angelis est un physi
 cien des hautes énergies et un astrophysicien. Professeur aux universités 
 de Padoue et de Lisbonne\, il occupe le poste de conseiller scientifique a
 uprès de la délégation italienne aux organisations internationales à Paris
 . Ses principaux intérêts de recherche se situent dans le domaine de la ph
 ysique fondamentale\, en particulier l'astrophysique et la physique des pa
 rticules élémentaires. Diplômé de l'Université de Padoue et membre du pers
 onnel du CERN dans les années 1990\, il a ensuite été l'un des membres fon
