 tion with the Sciences Po Law School\, ‘Eating Popcorn like a Lawyer’ is a
 n online seminar series that seeks to establish a continuous dialogue betw
 een the fields of law and film. For each instalment we invite a prominent 
 legal scholar to select\, discuss and analyse their favourite film(s). \n
 \nFor the April session of our series\, we have invited Prof. Helena Alvia
 r (Science Po Law School) who has selected Alfonso Cuarón’s latest and muc
 h lauded feature ‘Roma’ (2018).  \n\nReturning to his native Mexico for th
 e first time since his equally striking Y tu mamá también (and moreover to
  his own upbringing in the county’s vibrant capital) Cuarón carefully depi
 cts the lives and struggles of a middle-class family through the eyes of t
 heir live-in-maid\, Cleo. Shot in a gorgeous black and white\, Roma provid
 es a moving aesthetic experience as well as a powerful social commentary o
 n class and race in 1970s Mexico which we will address through prisms of f
 amily and labour law. \n\nParticipants are asked to watch the film beforeh
