Maintaining\, establishing\, breaching\, contesting\, and consenting to borders and boundaries entail endless cycles of negatio ns. This conference aims to explore how the aesthetic challenge of rethink ing borders between artistic mediums leads us to an ethical challenge of r ethinking borders between social subjects and structures.\n  \n\nPapers are invited to reflect on the concept and function of borders in a wide conte xt within a literary\, film\, media\, gender\, and cultural studies framew ork. They may investigate the notion of borders\, boundaries\, margins and fringes through a lens of medium-specificity. Alternatively\, papers migh t explore social\, political\, or gendered spaces --real or imaginary– as performative boundaries. Papers are encouraged to examine how notions of b orders and boundaries may influence or misinform our research and teaching \, addressing questions about the feasibility and desirability of interdis ciplinarity or multidisciplinary approaches.\n\n \n\nArtistic Borders\, So cial Barriers: The Parallel Destabilization in Cinema and Society\n\nIn th e realm of cinema\, the boundary between fiction and documentary films is a subject of continual evolution and debate. This panel aims to explore ho w the destabilization of the border between fictional and documentary film s reflects and influences the heterogeneity of existing social boundaries. \n\n·       Blending Fact and Fiction in Film\, the intersection of fictio n and documentary\n\n·       Audience Perception and societal Impact\n\n·        Ethical Implications of genre blending\n\nPresenting the Unrepresent able: Art\, Fiction\, and Real-World Trauma\n\nTo explore the methods and ethical considerations involved in using art and fiction alongside archiva l footage and interviews to represent events traditionally considered 'unr epresentable'\, such as war\, violence\, and genocide.\n\n·       Artistic Representation of Trauma\n\n·       Cinema as social commentary\n\n·        Ethical boundaries in filmmaking\n\n \n\n \n\nRethinking Translation bet ween the Margins and the Center\n\nThis panel seeks to foster discussions about the role of translators and translation in shaping and reshaping kno wledge\, as well as facilitating the flow and communication of ideas. We w elcome papers focussing on cultural and sociological approaches to transla tion and mediation across borders including the evolving relationship of h umans with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Translation.\n\n·       Tra nslation\, mediation\, and intercultural communication as social empowerme nt\n\n·       Translated voices of “migrants” as a site of cultural knowle dge production\n\n·       Challenging the concepts of 'Purity' and 'origin ality' of the source-text\n\n·       Blurred boundaries between Humans and Machine Translation\n\nEnvironmental conflicts in genre literature\n\nExp loring the synergy of literature and environmental themes\, this panel inv estigates climate change through diverse genres.
