The keynote address will take plac e in the Tanna Schulich Hall\, located on the main floor of the Elizabeth Wirth Music Building. The reception will follow on the eighth floor.\n\nDr . Beverley Jacobs has held Associate Dean (Academic) and Acting Dean appoi ntments in the Faculty of Law at the University of Windsor. She practices law part-time at her home community of Six Nations of the Grand River Terr itory. Her research focuses on Indigenous Legal Orders\, Indigenous Wholis tic Health\, Indigenous Research Methodologies\, and Decolonization of Eur ocentric Law. Dr. Jacobs has obtained a Bachelor of Law Degree from the Un iversity of Windsor in 1994\, a Master of Law Degree from the University o f Saskatchewan in 2000 and a PhD from the University of Calgary in 2018. S he is also a consultant/researcher/writer/public speaker. Her work centres around ending gendered colonial violence against Indigenous people and re storing Indigenous laws\, beliefs\, values\, and traditions. A prolific sc holar\, her published work has earned her numerous awards\; her research c ombined with her advocacy has translated into national and international r ecognition. Dr. Jacobs is also a former President of the Native Women’s As sociation of Canada (elected 2004 to 2009). At McGill\, this day has been recognized with official communications and educational and commemorative activities since its establishment in 2021.\n\nOur hope is that this gathering will h elp to educate the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøcommunity and the community at large about histo rical and contemporary injustices faced by Indigenous peoples in Canada.
