McGill’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) is committed to delivering with and for the communities we serve. This critical component of our mission is also reflected in the numerous School- and department-led community engagement activities across our Faculty.
These initiatives will be guided and supported by the Community Engagement and Belonging hub. Under the purview of the Vice-President (Health Affairs) and Dean of the FMHS, this new hub will be led by the Vice-Dean, Education and Community Engagement.
Guiding principles will include:ÌýÌý
- Building on a culture of openness and mutual respect, and the varied experiences, ideas and backgrounds of our faculty, staff and learners;ÌýÌý
- Listening to, learning from and engaging more effectively with the communities we serve, with a focus on those that have been historically marginalized;ÌýÌý
- Assuring equity in the recruitment of students, faculty and staff, and in the support we offer each and every member of our community as they learn and contribute to our mission;Ìý
- Ensuring that our students understand an individual’s health in the wider context of history, culture and socioeconomic factors;ÌýÌý
- Choosing our words carefully to create an environment where all feel welcome and valued.
The creation of this new hub is ongoing and will continue through Summer 2025. This website will be updated as this development progresses.
In the interim, please don’t hesitate to contact the Office of the Vice-Dean, Education and Community Engagement.
