Our work focuses on the design and development o f low cost devices to sensitively and specifically diagnose and monitor in fectious diseases\,  detect biomarkers to assess cancer risk\, and monitor adherence to drug regimens like highly active antiretroviral therapy. Our devices include on board sample preparation modules using both plastic an d paper components. We have demonstrated  molecular detection schemes usin g paper based\, isothermal techniques that do not require electrical compo nents or pumps. The talk will focus on our work over the last decade to in tegrate these components into sample/answer out devices. Applications and clinical needs assessments for translation of these technologies in low re source settings and modern healthcare systems will be discussed.\n\nRefres hments will be served.\n DTSTART:20160122T180000Z DTEND:20160122T190000Z LOCATION:Room 267\, Macdonald Engineering Building\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H 3A 0C3\, 817 rue Sherbrooke Ouest SUMMARY:Global Health Seminar Series: Paper based Molecular Diagnostics for use in Low and Middle Income Countries URL:/globalhealth/channels/event/global-health-seminar -series-paper-based-molecular-diagnostics-use-low-and-middle-income-countr ies-257338 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
