Biography: 

Dr. Yassen Tcholakov is a public health physician and Clinical Lead for Infectious Diseases at the Nunavik Department of Public Health, where he leads surveillance and control efforts in a remote Inuit region of northern Quebec. His work focuses on addressing health inequities and strengthening public health systems in resource-limited settings. He is also an Assistant Professor (Clinical) in the Department of Global and Public Health at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, where he teaches on global health, health governance, and infectious disease epidemiology. His academic work emphasizes the intersection of research, policy, and practice to advance equitable healthcare delivery. Dr. Tcholakov completed his residency at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøand holds an MD from the University of Montreal, along with master’s degrees from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the University of Copenhagen. He has contributed to international health advocacy through roles with the World Medical Association and WHO expert groups.
