Welcome to Macdonald Campus grad students starting in the Fall 2025 term! 

Graduate students newly admitted into a program in the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (Macdonald Campus) can attend pre-arrival and orientation activities on both the downtown and Macdonald campuses.

Orientation check-in: Come check in with your 51³Ô¹ÏÍøID card, grab a coffee and snack, and start connecting with people! 

9:15 to 11:00 a.m. 

Macdonald-Stewart Building—Faculty Lounge, MS2-022 

Graduate Welcome Presentation: 

  • Learn where to find guidance, support, and services to help you on your road to success as a graduate student at McGill.
  • Meet your Macdonald Campus Graduate Student Society (MCGSS) executives, who will tell you about what they do, and how you can get involved too! 
  • Croissants, pastries, and coffee/tea will be served. Please bring your own cup/bottle! Water bottle filling station available.  

11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

McGill-Macdonald Services Fair: Meet staff and students from many areas of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø(including Mac Campus of course!), and learn about the important resources available to you. Over 30 51³Ô¹ÏÍøservices and student groups will be represented!

Graduate student lunch: MCGSS is pleased to offer new grad students a delicious catered lunch! Please try to bring your own reusable cup, cutlery, etc. Lunch tickets will be distributed at the orientation check-in table and are required in order to collect your lunch.

MCGSS Campus Tour and Scavenger Hunt: Time to get to know your new campus!

ISS Meet & Greet Lounge - International Grad Students (both new and returning) are encouraged to drop by and mingle. Enjoy free refreshments and snacks, get advice and referrals from returning students and ISS advisors. No registration required! Just drop in and stay for as long as you like!

Funding your Grad Studies - This presentation will provide students with an overview of graduate funding at McGill: understanding their funding package, applying for external funding, and key resources for funding-related questions. FRQNT and NSERC competitions will be emphasized. Presented by staff from 51³Ô¹ÏÍøGraduate and Postdoctoral Studies (GPS).   We’ll provide light refreshments, but we also encourage you to bring your lunch for this informal presentation.

12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

myProgress - Thesis students will learn about the graduate progress tracking that must be carried out by students and supervisors throughout their thesis program. Presented by staff from 51³Ô¹ÏÍøGraduate and Postdoctoral Studies (GPS). We’ll provide light refreshments, but we also encourage you to bring your lunch for this informal presentation.
