Global Health

Our commitment

The Department of Family Medicine approaches global health as a commitment to advancing access to quality primary health care everywhere, especially among equity-deserving populations.

Our global health initiatives are grounded in the core values of health equity, inclusive engagement, and people-centred care. We approach this work reflexively—with humility, a commitment to listening, and a willingness to learn.

We put these values into action through:

  • Interdisciplinary work across McGill
  • Collaborations with multicultural communities
  • Equitable partnerships with local and global researchers and organizations

We believe that diversity fuels innovation, and that authentic engagement and collaboration are essential to creating sustainable and meaningful impact.

We prepare our students to make a difference by engaging them in critical global health discourse, research, and experiential learning both locally and globally.

Our research and training programs address a range of critical health issues spanning NCD prevention, youth sexual and reproductive health, health systems, mental health, safe motherhood, aging, HIV, community-based primary care, and capacity strengthening.
