Nominated by Marion Dove, Chair of the Department of Family Medicine:

It is with great admiration that I offer this nomination for Dr. Ellen Rosenberg. A McGill-trained physician, Dr. Rosenberg exemplifies the values of Family Medicine through her exceptional clinical practice, research and teaching.

Dr. Rosenberg’s work addresses one of the most critical challenges in Canadian primary care today, namely effective communication with patients who have limited proficiency in English or French. Through a series of thoughtful and impactful studies, she has illuminated both the strengths and barriers in delivering equitable care to these populations. Her findings, drawn from patients, interpreters, and physicians alike, have offered practical strategies for improving the doctor-patient relationship in linguistically diverse settings.

In addition to her research, Dr. Rosenberg was a highly respected clinician and teacher at the St. Mary’s Family Medicine Centre. Her commitment to mentorship and to advancing the science of primary care is evident in her work on mental illness detection, childhood hyperlipidemia and interventions to improve cardiovascular health through physical activity. Dr. Rosenberg’s contributions continue to enrich our Department and the broader Family Medicine community. I am proud to have called her a colleague.

Congratulations!
