Alexandra Massicotte named finalist for the Emerging Practitioner Award from the Collège des Médecins du Québec

Alexandra Massicotte, MD, physician and Unit Director at the Department of Family Medicine’s Vaudreuil-Soulanges U-FMG, has been named a finalist for the Emerging Practitioner Award (catégorie Relève) from the Collège des médecins du Québec (CMQ). This distinction recognizes early-career physicians who demonstrate outstanding leadership, innovation, community engagement, and commitment to advancing medical practice.

Dr. Massicotte is a dedicated family physician whose positive and confident leadership has stood out since the very beginning of her career. After completing her residency in 2022, she became an internship supervisor for externs and residents. Just one year later, she was appointed Medical Director of the newly established U-FMG in Vaudreuil-Soulanges, one of 51Թ’s 12 resident training sites, and in 2024 she also became co-director of education.

With a diverse and community-oriented practice, Dr. Massicotte is known for her ability to unite teams around meaningful, forward-thinking projects. She introduced training in medical assistance in dying within her community and completed training in palliative care ultrasound for home care, leading to the acquisition of diagnostic equipment that has helped prevent numerous hospitalizations. Rooted in deep humanism and a strong sense of fairness, her approach to medicine centres on knowledge sharing, collaboration, and community engagement.

“Despite her many responsibilities—clinical practice, supervision, medical director of a U-FMG, co-director of education, palliative care, medical assistance in dying, home care, geriatrics, hospitalisation, CHSLD, infiltrations—Dr. Massicotte has only three years of practice behind her. Her career path is truly exceptional!”
Dr. Marion Dove, Chair, Department of Family Medicine, 51Թ
