While CVD-related mortality is primarily conce ntrated in the country’s most urbanized and economically developed regions \, significant geographic\, social\, and economic disparities exist in the distribution of risk factors\, disease burden\, and access to prevention efforts. These disparities highlight the need for targeted strategies to a ddress the underlying challenges\, identify potential solutions\, and impr ove health outcomes.\n\nThis presentation describes two initiatives develo ped in response to these challenges. The first\, Social Determinants of Hy pertension in Quibdó\, focuses on addressing hypertension within a medium- sized urban center that reflects the structural social and economic disadv antages faced by Afro-Colombian communities. The second initiative\, Local Organizational Capacity for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease in C olombia\, explores the limited capacity of local health departments to pre vent CVD. It emphasizes the development\, implementation\, and evaluation of interventions aimed at strengthening cardiovascular prevention efforts at the local level.\n\nLearning objectives \n\nBy the end of this presenta tion\, participants will be able to:\n\n\n Describe the geographic\, social \, and economic disparities influencing cardiovascular disease risk and ou tcomes in Colombia’s Pacific Coast region.\n Analyze the role of community and organizational approaches in addressing cardiovascular disease prevent ion in Colombia’s Pacific Coast region.\n Identify strategies and challenge s in implementing public health interventions for cardiovascular disease p revention in local contexts and analyze their implications for policy deve lopment and public health practice.\n\n\nSpeaker bio\n\nDiego I.
