 t available\n\nALL ARE WELCOME\n\nBIOGRAPHY:\n\nDr. Miguel Hernan conducts
  research on how to do research. He is especially interested in causal inf
 erence methods to evaluate the comparative effectiveness of strategies for
  the treatment and prevention of cancer\, HIV disease\, and cardiovascular
  disease. Together with collaborators in several countries\, he designs an
 alyses of electronic health records\, epidemiologic studies\, and pragmati
 c randomized trials. Miguel teaches at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Pub
 lic Health\, where he is a professor in the departments of Epidemiology an
 d Biostatistics\, the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technolo
 gy\, and the Harvard Medical School. He has mentored over 30 doctoral stud
 ents and postdoctoral fellows at Harvard. He has served on committees for 
 the National Academy of Medicine and the National Research Council. He is 
 a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science\, Chai
 r of the Section on Statistics and Epidemiology of the American Statistica
 l Association\, Associate Editor of the American Journal of Epidemiology a
 nd of the Journal of the American Statistical Association\, former Associa
