 itiative (SEI) is an important vehicle through which McGill’s Desautels Fa
 culty of Management integrates social entrepreneurship & social innovation
  more formally into its teaching\, research and outreach activities.\nThe 
 SEI is one of three thematic priorities of the Marcel Desautels Institute 
 for Integrated Management (MDIIM). The two others are sustainability and h
 ealth. The Institute’s mandate is to foster an integrated approach to mana
 gement – one that breaks down disciplinary barriers\, embraces multiple pe
 rspectives and encourages holistic\, context-sensitive thinking about orga
 nizations and the economy through integrative research\, teaching and outr

 nally as an award-winning social  entrepreneur\, educator\, best-selling a
 uthor\, child advocate and  parenting expert. In 2002\, Gordon was named t
 he first female Canadian  Ashoka Fellow\, recognizing her as a member of a
 n international circle of  social entrepreneurs who have the creativity th
 at enables them to  envision new and better ways to address persistent soc
 ial problems and  the entrepreneurial skill and determination required to 
 bring their  ideas to fruition. In 2011\, Ms Gordon was named an Ashoka Gl
 obalizer\,  joining a select group of Ashoka Fellows supported in extendin
 g their  message and impact to the global level.\nAbout Roots of Empathy\n
 Roots of Empathy is a pioneering\, evidence-based classroom program  that
