Fabiola currently works as Senior Legal Counsel at Gold er Associates Ltd\, a member of WSP. She is also an instructor at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøU niversity where she teaches workshops on negotiation and on managing risks through contracts.\n\n Throughout her career\, Fabiola has negotiated vari ous types of international agreements in various sectors of the economy\, such as aerospace\, energy\, construction\, procurement\, and corporate/co mmercial transactions. Fabiola is recognized for her strong business acume n and her ability to effectively find creative solutions to complex issues . Sports have always been a major part of her balanced life\, including ru nning a few marathons and online yoga journeys.\n \n\n\n\nWLEC Mentorship E vent: Pathways to and Within the Localization Industry\n\n\n\n\n Organized by Women in Localization - Eastern Canada Chapter\n\n \n This virtual mentor ing event will have small-group discussions led by mentors around the them e of pathways to and within the localization industry. \n \n\n Keynote speec h delivered by María Sierra Córdoba Serrano\, PhD\, Assistant Dean of Curr iculum and Program Development\, 51³Ô¹ÏÍøSchool of Continuing Studies.\n\n D ate: March 23\, 2022\n Time: 5:30 - 7 p.m.\n\n Register\n\n\n\n About María S ierra Córdoba Serrano\n\n \n Dr. María Sierra Córdoba Serrano is an Associat e Professor in Translation Studies\, as well as the Assistant Dean of Curr iculum and Program Development at 51³Ô¹ÏÍøSchool of Continuing Studies. As the former Director of McGill’s Translation Studies Unit (2018–2021)\, she was a driving force behind a series of fundamental changes to the transla tion programs to make them more responsive to the needs of the industry\, including the design of a Master of Science in Multilingual Digital Commun ication (Applied)\, currently pending approval by the Quebec government. A fter studying and freelancing in Spain\, Belgium and the U.K.\, and comple ting an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Translation Studies at the University of Ottaw a\, she landed an academic position at the Middlebury Institute of Interna tional Studies at Monterey (California) in 2009\, where she served as an A ssociate Professor until joining 51³Ô¹ÏÍøin 2017.\n\n As a scholar-practitio ner\, she is particularly interested in multilingualism management. Dr. Có rdoba Serrano is the author of a book\, as well as numerous book chapters\ , journal issues and articles in international peer-reviewed journals. She has also translated two award-winning Quebec novels into Spanish. Notable clients over the years have included the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation\ , Microsoft\, the Council on Foreign Relations\, the Shoah Memorial in Par is\, The Understanding Group and the National Steinbeck Center.\n \n\n\n\nI ndigenous Artists and Different Styles of Art\n\n\n\n\n \n Join two Indigeno us artists – Owisokon Lahache and Candia Flynn – as they discuss and showc ase their styles of art while exploring the McCord Museum’s exhibition Ind igenous Voices of Today.  \n \n\n \n The event will be held in-person at the McCord Museum but will also be livestreamed on YouTube.\n \n\n Date: Wednesd ay\, March 30\, 2022\n Time: 12–1 p.m.\n\n Register\n\n\n\n About Owisokon La hache and Candia Flynn\n\n \n \n A friend of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøSchool of Continuing Studies’ Indigenous Relations Initiative\, Indigenous artist\, Owisokon La hache from Kahnawake is Mohawk and her art is different from Inuit and oth er First Nations art. Owisokon meets First Nations work at the McCord Muse um’s exhibition Indigenous Voices of Today and comments on her style of ar t compared to other styles by showcasing some of her pieces and her intere st in corporate art design.\n\n Owisokon’s friend Candia Flynn is Nipmuc an d lives in Kahnawake. She is the founder of Healingstitches and will discu ss storytelling clothing.
