This session offers a focused exploration of how economic reconciliation serves as a foundation for Indigenous-led business education and capacity-building. The presentation connects directly to McGill’s School of Continuing Studies Indigenous Business Management Certificate, designed in response to Indigenous community leadership, and emphasizes vital competencies such as financial and numeracy literacy, project and business-plan development, communication, stakeholder relations, and the navigation of social, political, legal, and organizational structures. Through interactive discussion, participants will discover how these multidisciplinary skills empower Indigenous entrepreneurs to establish, sustain, and grow socially relevant organizations.

Presenter:

David Carrière-Acco, Assistant Professor and Academic Program Coordinator for Indigenous Business Management

David Carrière-Acco is Cree-Metis and a member of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation in Saskatchewan and the co-founder of Acosys. He holds an MBA from the University of Ottawa is currently completing his doctorate in business administration.
