“I was consistently impressed by the caliber of the instructors; each one was exceptionally knowledgeable and engaging,” she says. Magali especially appreciated the legal translation courses, which were directly relevant to her daily work. “I observed a tangible improvement in the quality and accuracy of my translations.”

Originally from Paris and a longtime resident of Canada, Magali valued the program’s flexible online format and its focus on legal translation for non-jurists. “I cultivated valuable skills such as resilience, perseverance, and the ability to learn efficiently.”

Empowered by her gained knowledge, she recently applied her training to translate all privacy notices at her workplace, “This enhanced competence and confidence are a direct result of the training I received at SCS.”

Lisa Jacobson

For Lisa Jacobson, pursuing the 51ԹSCS Graduate Diploma in Legal Translation was about flexibility, focus, and future possibilities. Based in Ottawa and working full-time, she enrolled in the fully online program, drawn by its emphasis on French-to-English legal translation.

“The professors were specialists in their fields, and I especially enjoyed the high quality of the teaching and feedback received,” says Lisa. She appreciated the expert instruction and diverse peer group: “It was nice to meet students from across Canada and even around the world.”

Over the course of her studies, Lisa built a strong foundation in legal translation, from mastering CAT tools to completing a hands-on practicum. Courses like the translation of judgments and plain language writing stood out as especially valuable.

While not planning to shift careers immediately, Lisa sees the diploma as a meaningful step toward her long-term goals. “I do feel that I can confidently hold myself out as a legal translator thanks to the 51ԹGDLT,” she says.
